Cat mining haul trucks such as the 777, 785, 789, 793 and 797 move most of the material at many open-pit mines. When one is parked waiting on a part, the whole load-and-haul cycle slows down. Finding the part fast starts with the exact Caterpillar part number and the truck's serial number.

This guide covers how buyers source Cat 793 parts, Cat 797 parts and Cat 785 parts by part number, which part types show up on haul truck work orders, and how to get one quote for the whole list. You can search Caterpillar parts by part number on the Global Parts Intel marketplace now: Caterpillar parts for sale.

A note on fitment. The Caterpillar listings on GPI today are listed by part number and description. They don't say which truck model they fit. The listings linked below are examples of each part type on the marketplace, not confirmed 793, 797 or 785 parts. Always check the part number against your parts book and serial number, and confirm fitment with the seller before you order.

Start with the part number and the serial number

On mining trucks, the model name alone isn't enough. A 793D and a 793F are different machines, and parts can change within a series by serial number range. Before you send a request, get:

  • the full Caterpillar part number from the parts book, the old part or the work order,
  • the truck model and serial number (for example, 793D plus the serial prefix and number),
  • the engine serial number for engine, turbo and fuel system parts.

On GPI, the parts search matches exact part numbers and, when sellers provide them, alternate and superseded numbers. Cat part numbers are often written with a dash (for example 105-2440); GPI listings show them without the dash (1052440), so search that way.

Steering parts

Haul truck steering runs on hydraulic cylinders, and cylinders and their seals are a common repair. On GPI you'll find a steering cylinder (1052440), a steering cylinder (4170582) and a steering cylinder and seal assembly (8V5216). Confirm the truck model and serial range with the seller.

Brake seals

Brake work on mining trucks often comes down to seals. Live listings include a brake seal (3Q6528), a service brake seal (1129723) and a parking brake seal (2927143).

Axle, wheel, final drive and differential parts

Wheel stations, final drives and differentials use bearings, gears and hardware that get replaced during rebuilds. GPI lists a bearing group, axle (2990236), a wheel set screw (3089259), a planetary shaft (4V8534), a sun gear (8K6282), a side gear (8R9830) and a spider group (9V7710), plus tapered bearing cups and cones such as 2D9454 / 2D9455 and 6Y2540 / 6Y2539. Bearings and gears are serial-sensitive, so send the serial number with the part number.

Transmission parts

Powertrain requests often include filters, valves and clutch parts. Listings include a transmission filter (1328875), a transmission valve (2011550), a clutch plate (6I8500) and a clutch and ring assembly (3V0908).

Engine, turbo, cooling and air intake parts

Engine parts should be matched to the engine serial number, not just the truck model. On GPI today: a turbocharger assembly (1922076), a turbo group (3881993), a turbo gasket (1S4295), an engine oil pump assembly (2335220), a fuel transfer pump (1W1695), a fuel priming pump (1375541), a radiator core (2235121), a thermostat (2485513), a manifold gasket (9Y1979), an air filter element (5280585) and a precleaner assembly (1306854).

Electrical, charging and cab parts

Charging, starting and monitoring parts keep a truck on shift. Live listings include an alternator (3397767), an alternator assembly (3E7577), an electric starter motor assembly (2071560), a VEC control module (3600048), a speedometer module group (1090598), an instrument panel (4536175), a pressure sensor (1946724), an LED light assembly (2465306), a windshield (3822311) and a reverse alarm (TYHX0052).

Hydraulic hoses and seal kits

Steering, brake and hoist circuits all use hoses and seals. GPI lists many Cat hose assemblies, such as 2021082 and 2263283, plus a hydraulic system seal kit (5331539) and a hydraulic cylinder seal kit (2409936).

Can't find your part number?

If a part number isn't listed, send an RFQ anyway with the part number and serial number; a seller may be able to source it. To browse everything, open all Caterpillar parts or search all parts.

RFQ checklist for Cat haul truck parts

Send one request for quote (RFQ) with:

  1. Every Caterpillar part number and the quantity of each.
  2. Truck model and serial number (777, 785, 789, 793, 797 and the series letter).
  3. Engine serial number for engine, turbo and fuel parts.
  4. The condition you'll accept (new, used, rebuilt) and whether you need genuine Cat or will accept aftermarket.
  5. Delivery location (mine site, port or warehouse) and the date you need it.

That gives a seller everything they need to quote the whole list in one reply.
